The 108' motor yacht carries a great deal of boating history. In 1986 Frances Langford Evinrude, the glamorous singer and entertainer acquired CHANTICLEER. Ms. Langford appeared alongside the likes of James Cagney, Bob Hope, Perry Como, Don Ameche, Jackie Gleason, and other bold name stars. She is most famous for the song "I’m in the Mood for Love" which was written and popularized by her. Later in life she married Ralph Evinrude the outboard motor tycoon.
Originally, the boat had been owned by Ogden Phipps, a famous horse breeder and tennis champ who named her Buckpasser after one of his most cherished thoroughbreds. The yacht was designed by the famed naval architect Jack Hargrave, who began working with Burger Boats in 1957.
CHANTICLEER’s hailing port is Harbor Springs, MI, however she spends most of her year in the Caribbean where she is based at Virgin Gorda, North Sound, British Virgin Islands.
